my friend just bought an 82 in pretty good condition. His first Rotary!! =D Its got an 88 engine with Mikuni Carbs, RB headers, MSD, etc... I have a few questions.

I put an electric fan on my 88 GXL and it runs really good. Will we have any problems running an electric fan set up and taking out the fan shroud/fan clutch? (i dont see why not, but its best to make sure...=)

We are gonna work on it today, it needs a few things. But the biggest thing i noticed, it that some of the Oil lines that go to the Oil metering pump have been disconnected. Anyone know if this is normal when carbing? it seems that one has a "T" .

Any input or help would be aprreciated. And i already told his *** to get on this board..

There shouldn't be any problem with the fans. I run twin 10's on mine and have never had any problem.

As far as the oil metering pump, never heard of that being done. Unless maybe the previous owner ran pre-mix or something. ??? I have Webers on mine and it's all hooked up.

Make sure you got oil metering working,or ask the guy who owned the car before you drive it. I have a mikuni 12A setup, the oil lines are just rubber tubes instead of the stock clear ones. They go to a hole in each intake tube coming off the carb. Are you sure your looking in the right place?

Yes im lookin at the right place :notify: . I was working on it yesterday and noticed a few things. It has an 87/888 13B engine, but the oil metering pump seems to be from the 12a because it only has two lines coming out. the 13 engine need 4 lines, so that is why it had the lines teed. I reconnected them to how i thought it should be, and oil was going through them, so it seems to be ok. There are two that go to the intake manifold, and other two that go right on the housing. hes taking it to a mechanic tomorrow to check on it. I just hope i connected them right..

Well as long as they are all connected you should be fine. 12A engines only use 2 large flow metering pumps. The 13b's use a refined version that uses less oil but does just as good of job, you should be ok I think
