Muffler Question

I blew my muffler today. well i went down to the muffler shop to see how much a new muffler or a cat back would cost. well the guy there said i have to use factory parts (200)ish$ for a new muffler from my mazda dealer or it would be to loud or blow up my engine is this guy blowing **** out his ***/being a total retard or is it true

I did now all i gota do is put it in. i dont have a torch or sawzall at home to cut the old pos muffler off so i gota wait for stepdad to bring stuff home from work i will post pics/vids of the muffler when i get it put on

Get a magnaflow straight through muffler, I have heard nothing but great results from them, good life, lower sound, better flow and life than flowmasters or a cheap muffler shop replacement.
