Hmm let me guess your ports fall along the lines of the flow guessed porters and not the flow tested porters’ huu.

Amazing how so many people still chose the wrong one.

I bought my engine already built, and I really don't give a rat's *** if the ports are perfect. It runs like a raped ape and boils the tires through second gear and well into third. Yeah, I 'd like to build a FI turbo motor some day, but right now I'm runnin' what I brung. This is a carburetor thread for those of us who are interested in carburetors, so **** off.

I know, I know, we should all be installing r-tek's with S-AFC's onto an old, rigged ECU...

But unfortunately, this is a thread about carbs

Agreed. I'd take a carb over stock efi **** on a performance engine.

I know all the benefits of having efi, i have built, fixed, and tuned rx8s with Mazport's microtech. I am just saving up money right now and weighing options. I am interested in carburetors just because i think it might be a fairly inexpensive alternative to the stock bullshit ecu. I am not interested in megasquirt or any of the other cheap efi alternatives, if i go efi it will definately cost me over $1000 just for the computer, so in the mean time i would like to just play around with a carb and learn something new. NO MORE ABOUT EFI, PLEASE! I dont need another bitching match ruining a thread that may get me answers to some of my questions. No offense to those who have been trying to help.

I have decided now that i will probably just to stick with a stock port and i will probably use a dual plenum intake. Is there anything wrong with using the 500cfm edlebrock if i go this route? Its just alittle bigger than the 12a stock carb, so it seems to me this would be about right. Plus, i have done the math and cfm wise the engine doesnt come close to 500cfm. Are the vacuum secondaries going to be a problem? I have read that people are using them, i just dont know with what luck.
