Exactly what model of iBook/Powerbook are you using...? Just like a car, a computer can be poorly tuned...Some things are not Safari friendly, and that's probably why you are having trouble with Allstate (Which sucks, by the way). I'm assuming you're on OS X.1 or higher, but I dunno. If you're on classic (Like 9.0.4.) use Netscape, it's worlds better.

There are programs out there that make Safari compatible with everything because it 'fools' servers into thinking it's some other browser. Ergo, I.E., Firefox, Opera, just to solve compatibility issues.

Now that I've gone completely off topic, you may now return to your regular scheduled programming.

I was smart and insured my car in my Grandmother's name. We have USAA, which is the best, but you can only get it if someone in your immediate family was in the millitary or something...That would be my Grandfather, who I never got the pleasure of meeting, my great grandfather, my dad's brother or my dad's father.

If you can believe it, my '86 RX-7 GXL insurance is cheaper than both my '93 Eclipse and my '93 Isuzu Amigo! Muwahaha, Evil...

Full coverage rocks, I'm waiting for someone to hit me in a parking lot on the left rear so I can get that dent taken out!

I'm using an Ibook G4. I'm using OS X 10.4.2. I couldn't use firefox, because it was locked that day, but now it works. I can't install Netscape, or any of the other internet browsers, because my school is afraid we'll find out how to bypass the filters without using proxies.

The only person in my family that was in the military was my grandfather (who is gone), and my uncle (who retired from it), but they live(d) out in Illinois, so I can't get insured under them, and my parents wouldn't allow me to get insured under anyone but them, or if I paid for it myself, which I could do if I used Farmers insurance.

That makes no sense! A '86 is a freaking sports car! Sports cars are usually more expensive (multiple ways) than other cars. I wouldn't complain though.

I wish I could afford full coverage, because if I could, I'd get it. I know it would be at least $3-4k every 6 months for me if I got it once I get my liscence. That's more than I make yearly. (only make ~2-3k a year right now.)

probably. i've got to figure out how to get the quote for it, though, with me as an extra driver, even though i'd be the primary one.

You need to get local insurance advice. I'm an agent (in Washington, though, can't help you there), and there are a lot of rules in the various companies about who/where you can insure yourself & your vehicles.

I'd recommend talking to a local independent agent (look in the phone book- independents are the one's who represent multiple companies- don't always have the best rates, but you can hit a lot of companies in one stop). And while it is possible for you to obtain your own policy with some companies, you are a liability to your parents if you select minimum-type limits.

Also, generally, you should be on your parents policy. Often it is vastly cheaper that way anyway.

This is Progressive's site with good info about insurance.

Before you spend too much time worrying about quotes, make sure you understand the products.

-Smirks- Yeah, I know it's a sports car. I guess they realized just how roll-over prone the Amigo is. Anyway, I am not complaining. 600 every six months, that I am not even paying for. Hehe, I love it. Grams rocks.

What I think is really stupid on my parents part, is that they REFUSE to let me pay for my own insurance! It'll save them ~2k a year if they let me go through Farmers, and pay for it by myself.

Why do you want to pay for it yourself?
