Well just when you think you got everything working an plan to do some upgrades somethings breaks isn't that typical.... ???

My newest problem I think is in my ignition system some where I'm not even sure where to start..About two weeks ago I replaced the plugs an before then I had this problem happen only once i thought it was the plugs replaced them (Autolites only thing available at the time) an it was fine for about two weeks now in the last three days it has got worse....

She starts just fine an runs good most of the time but every so often she gets what i can only call the hicups she jerks an if you give her more gas it gets worse but if you take your foot of the gas she smoothes out an runs fine again. This all started I think after I washed I made the mistake of using a brushless carwash eversince I've been working out little kinks

Anyway I think there's a short somewhere in the ignition system but I'm not sure where or what would cause this problem I have talked to a few other people an noone seems to have any answers.. I need help please I call upon the rotary gods for help.

If it is the ignition system can I upgrade to one of the higher performance units an if so which is my best option

Get some NGKs! Two weeks is about the lifetime of autolites ina rotary. how good are the rest of the ignition components?

How does it idle, it could be a carb problem.

Where in Texas are you?

Th rest of the ignition seems to be fine I thought I had plugs fouled out but it wound up bein something else totally. I think the coils are getting wet an tat's where my problem is is in the coils. I noticed yesterday that part of the weatherstriping for the hood is missing righ above the coils So i'm going to find another piece of weatherstripping then replace the coils it runs fine as long as it doesn't get wet.

I'm in Lubbock Texas

I got some freinds, one a rotary nut, goin to Tech next fall.

If it only runs funny in the wet it is definetly your ignition system, although I doubt it is the coils, it could be. Treat all your connections to some dielectric grease, including the plug wires and all the connectors on the ignition system.

Good luck.

The problem is not strictly related to the weather but gets worse in the rain or after it's been washed I thought it was electrical but now I'm not so sure why would it get worse f yu tried to give it gas but smooth out if you took your foot f the accerator an you don't have to remove it long just like your were shifting gearsor something a sec or two is all itneeds to smooth out..........Really confused

I think I'm just gonna start replacing things gonna start with the cap an wires but now i ave to wait till next week since this week has been an off week for work....

hey before you go nuts and take apart your ignitions system check all the components for wear. check your distributor cap and the ignitors ( you can have them checked at some auto parts stores) also this might sound stupid but check your plug wires in the dark for arching. have u changed or checked your fuel filter

ohh i had the same problem a while back and it was the accelerator pump on my carb so you might wanna check your carb too.

if all else fails and you have the money just install the whole msd ignition on your car trust me your gonna love it. it cost me around 350$ for the msd 6al and 2 coils. i also bought a good used distributor with ingiters for 75.00$

sounds like it could be a carb issue also, go ahead and replace everything you can afford to, cap, rotor, wires, plugs, etc. Also a new fuel filter would be a good idea. Check your fuel pump flow using the bucket method.

Good Luck.
