What is an unreasonable temp on one of our rotaries??? i did some coolant changing on mine and i guess didnt get al the air out... Well i looked down at the guage and it was at about 250-260 degrees. ofcourse i let it cool off. could this have hurt anything??? . i know on an old chevy, you were good till maybe 300 degrees for a short time befor any major damage would occur.

rule of thumb is anything over about 235F is bad, but if theres an air bubble, the sensor might not have been in water.

ive done this same thing before, and not had a problem

back in the day my bud had a mudtruck that had a cracked head that would leak at 260 deg F. "looks like we're at 260deg, look at all the steam" "lets make another run"

I whine when my car gets above 190 but I'm a little bitch though.

If your gauge indicates more than 220 degrees, then you're definitely in dangerous territory. 260 means your engine's days are probably numbered now, although it may take a few years for the damage to show.
