alright i am going to be gettign a 84-84 SE and will be wanting to do a engine swap, but i havent decided on what engine to go with. 13BT or the 13B-REW? i know that the REW will be harder to put in but i have heard that it can handle more power. can anyone help me decide here?

Thanks

I have been reading the forums for a while and i have seen people saying that they are dropping like 10k all together putting 3rd gen motors in the first gen. Not to mention the chassis having trouble handling anything above 250 hp at the wheels. A good swap i have heard is 13bt from a 2nd gen with a s4 front cover with a turbo 2 tranny, although i have heard after everything it will cost you at least 5k. Although i am redoing my 78 with a 12a thats got the lightened flywheel, pulley kit, and DLIDFIS, 5-speed tranny, and racingbeat header with mandrel all the way back to the muffler, all this and so far i am in the project like grand total 2200.00 (i am being generous) so i guess i would say i go with setting up your 12a to its fullest.

Before I answer this question let me ask you some things...

1. how much money do you have to spend?

2. How long can this vehicle be down?

3. How mechanically inclined are you?

I was looking at doing a s4 turbo II swap, but i have changed my mind and i'm building a full bridgeport 13b-rew turbo engine with a t88. I'm looking for 500 pump gas and 700 c16 at the wheels. this i know is possible as for the reason i've seen quite a few first gens with 500 rwhp up here in the lower mainland of British Columbia. the chassis can handle the power its the rear end that we are having problems with. but if its a drag car than a ford 8.8 narrowed can be modded and installed into the factory hangers. For me down time isn't a question and money isn't either. And i'll be building the engine myself exept for the 5 extra dowels that need to be installed. the tuning i'll be having done at forcefed performance. Marko is a friend of mine. Go get yourselfs the new HCI mag it has a build up of a 700 13b-rew
