drum brake

my right rear drum brake doesnt spin even when the e-brake is down



can someone give me tips on how to remove the drum and what could be the problem?

was it driving before? if so then your shoes just got hung up on the drum. pull off the wheels and hammer as close in to the hub as you can (without hitting the spindle cover or studs and not so hard you crack or damage the drum) and wiggle the drum around till it breaks loose. remove drum and check to make sure none of the springs are broken. spray everything down with brake cleaner and get out any large crap that's made it's way in there. make sure the boots on the pistons are still in good shape and not leaking and that the e-brake cable is still attached. have someone move the brake handle up and down to make sure the cable isn't binding. after all that and you're sure it's clean and good, put it back together. I wouldn't suggest pulling out the shoes or springs unless you have the tools to get them back in. best of luck and let me know how it goes.

hey it seems like you know alot, my friend has the same car but it wouldnt start, could it be th carb??

lol my ASE is in suspension and steering and i missed getting the brakes ASE certification by two questions.



as for your friend's car, i would start a new thread and make sure to post all of the details. rotaries not wanting to start isn't that uncommon and has several different possible causes. best of luck man

well it wants to start but we dnt think fuel is reaching the carb

pull the fuel line off the carb and hold it over a bottle or something. turn the key forward and you should hear the pump running and fuel coming out of the line. with the fuel pump still running and fuel flowing out reconnect it to the carb and you've successfully primed your fuel lines. if it's an issue with the carb itself, it'll need rebuilt, which isn't fun lol

well thats not the issue -_-

its probably one of those solenoid switches

have you gotten the fb manufacturer's shop manual yet? it'll help chase wires and vaccuum lines at least lol

Well all thats fixed lol

Now when i turn the fuel pump on, the fuel keeps coming out & over flow -___- lol
