Does an 85 Gsl have a cat?

hello everyone i am the newest member of owning a rx7... after owning nothing but hondas for the past 5 years i decided to try this... i jus bought a 85 gsl 1.1 i think.. i was wondering if this car has a cat convertor, and if they gain any extra power by gutting it.... thanks guys looking for some times wit a rx

Yes they have cats and yes you can gain significant hp by doing some exhaust work.



12a is a 1.2 litre by the way

heh thanks alot... and thank you for the welcome... i'm hoping to have a good experince with my rx and leave the honda stuff.... does the cat just unbolt do u kno by any chance.. i havnt had a chance to take a look yet

It really depends on that age of car it could have been replaced, stock bolts up as I recall, I had mine removed and a pipe put in place in washington state and the guy charged me like $35 to do it, prolly easier then trying to hollow the old ones out.

stock there are 3 cats, they do bolt up, but the car is old enough to where if somethings been replaced it might not anymore

not under the car, but heres a pic of the exhaust off the car.

first pice is the header, second is the 2 cats. theres a piece missing after the cats before the muffler (left it on the car) oh by the way, the cats are turned around the wrong way (it was late...)
