Before I pulled my 12a I got fed up with pupming the gas.I use to keep a 1 liter pop bottle full of gas with me and pour about a quarter of it in when it was cold then pull the choke.Fired right up nicely.

How many times do you have to pump it now? and do you have the choke on when you start it?

On my 82 GSL I choke it then pump the gas pedal twice and it fires right up. Usually takes about 15 minutes for it to warm up though.

When I did it that way I never had to pump it because the carb already had gas in it.If your carb is good tho(mine was freshly rebuilt)you only need to pump 2-6 times then pull the choke. And fire it up.

I belive the car will start easier when you pull the choke first then give it 2 pumps, thats how my old 1st gen starter on these New York mornings.
