I'm not sure if these will be of any help to anybody...but I have the pinouts for all of the plugs on our radios for anyone that wants to do a custom install and can't find a harness...or just wants to bypass all that 20 year old wiring...and the second photo says they DO sell a wiring harness for our cars...but it only works on part of the wiring...so you might still have to run some wires...

This one is for the "graphic equalizer", "plug b", and "plug c"

And one more pictures...since I have a whole box of these things...this is the factory clarion amp...according to my papers its in 83-84 models...but i also pulled 2 from a 85...so its atleast 83 to 85...

It's fairly simple...the graphic eq line plugs into a eq cable that goes to the 4 way doohicky in the center column...the power cable has a fuse inside it...and then a 4 prong speaker connector...which would be a good place to tap in if you didn't want to rewire all of the speakers

Those diagrams are fan*******tastic! Not to thread hijack or anything, but my speakers only work on one side (the right) and was wondering if the left amplifier is just blown. There seems to be two in my car (one behind each seat under the compartments), is it stock like that? I'm wondering where I could get a new amp if need be too, but never come across any stock sound system parts for 84-85 rx's. Hmm...

We all have 2 stock...I thought one was front and the other was back...but i guess its possible for each to control one side...and actually that would make more sense...

and as for just one side working...pull the cubby and check that blue line with the white round plug on it...seems like you push the 2 pieces together and twist...it has a fuse inside...if its blown that might be your problem...oooor...if you're just having problem with tapes...i used to get only one side to work...and actually i think it was the same as yours...turns out the tape deck ate a tape and i had a piece of tape stuck in the left sides tape head...pulled that crap out of there and whaaaam...both sides worked again

I've got 2 radios...one is in pieces...because its actually a 3 piece unit...and i needed to fix mine because pieces of the digital tuner on top wouldn't light up anymore...guy sent me 2 extra amps too...then i got 2 more out of a parts car

You might check e-bay...I see them going on there occasionally

I believe that switch you're talking about is the control for the eq...it has a plate that shows 4 directions...but mine was pretty rubbed off before i took out the switch...so you can't really tell...when its working you just move the joystick to position your sound to the front/rear...or whatever area you want to...kinda reminds me of atari :P

I'm including a picture below

I'm thinking...but its been a while since i used it...the white plug goes to a cord that runs back to the amps...I think it splits somewhere...one to each side...and the black one goes up to your radio...and speaking of the radio...on the head...the top of the 3 pieces...there is a plug on the back that has the round plugs like everything else

Before I took my factory system out I took one of the amps i got off e-bay and plugged it into that extra hole...then the blue power on the amp over to a 12v+ cable...theeeen the 4 speaker leads off to a dual voice coil sub...it was better than nothing...even tho i'm pretty sure its not more than 15 watts
