I called a guy about a 84 GS to be used as a daily driver. It's got nearly 150k miles, new clutch and rebuilt trans, body is in good shape with a few small dents. No major rusting.

He says it needs new shocks/struts, new waterpump and it'll be good to go. Says the storage bin lids are broke off too, but that's about it. He wants $500 OBO.

Sounds like a good deal to me. I'm not really a carb or 1st gen guy. I drive the **** outta my FD though, and would like to NOT drive it through the winter. I figure this car should get me through the winter and then some. What do you guys think? Anything I should watch out for?

Thanks a bunch!

BTW, I'm going to be calling him back so any other questions I should ask, let me know so I can.

Thanks again.

see if u can get a compression test done on it and u should be all set. id also look into flushing the cooling system. slush build up is not good.

Yep, go for it . . . I'd see about swapping in an LSD though, super-light car with one-wheel-drive + winter driving conditions = unhappiness and possibly stuckness

I doubt that. The first gen is also a way for me to be able to do all the things I been meaning to do with the FD. I see a single turbo in it's future, and perhaps a rebuilt large streetported motor as well.

Maybe even a Half-Bridge.

I've driven a friend's GSL-SE for two weeks while I was doing some silicon hoses on the FD and it was fun, but not quite FD fun. Especially not Modded FD fun.

I think I am gonna have him replace the water pump for me so I can drive it while I'm there. That way I don't drive 100 miles for nothing. BTW, what all do I need for the LSD swap and what's the cost? I have about $1300 to put towards this car. I figure the new (factory koni replacements) struts are $75/ea front and $50/ea rear plus some RB Springs and I should be pretty set (for now) eh?

I'd say at that price if it's got good compression go for. My 84 GSL almost broke 190K
