I am going to use a optima red top and a marine box. mount it to the floor in the bin. what size battery cable should I use.

I used the typical 4 gauge wire that you get in an car amp installation kit. The one I used had like 20 ft of red 4 gauge, connectors etc. I bolted the negative cable to the seatbelt bolt.

I have seen people use 0 or 00 arc welding wire. It has a cross section of @ 1/2in.

the pc680? i have one for the fc its great except it doesnt like to sit with a draw, you gotta unplug it
mike I got it for AU$60. Story: My friend owns a RAC battery franchise, some asian guy called him out cos he's battery was flat, turns out his g/f had been sitting in the car with the stereo cranked for 3 hours (2x Alpine V12 amps) and it died. He bought a new battery for $100, my friend took the old one (which happens to be the odessey) and says bye. My friend (knowing they're good for 300-400 full cycles), takes it home, charges it on the battery charger, it tests perfect, then sells it to me for $60. Win, win. |

Yo don't need any sort of box w/ the optima red top battery. Thats why it is what it is. Its like waterproofing plastic.... You dont' have to do it. ~Geoff |

This is from the Optima site Gas Leakage FAQ So a "vented to atmosphere" box would be a good thing. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png |
I've never known anyone to run an optima in a box. *shrugs* go for it if you want, i'm not going to.
