does any one have info on relocating a battery to the storage bin on the 1st gens

I remember seeing one where a guy was boasting about installing his in the

I did mine in the passenger storage bin with no problem. Used a Miata battery and ran the positive cable from the starter, down the frame rail with the fuel lines, through a hole in the floor. Drilled a couple of holes for the battery hold down bolts and that was it.

Yeah the post that direct linked you to was the one i got no REAL responses to. Here is how i'm going to do mine:



Tie down the battery in the pass bin.



Make the neg terminal go to the seatBELT bolt, about less than a foot away.



pos goes to the starter, and then the other wire goes somewhere (the smaller red wire).



I forgot. I'll talk to my buddy carl as soon as i get the money for wires and a tie down.

Have you seen those really small "dry cell" type batteries?



I saw one on a '93 twin turbo that was @ 10x8x6 inches. The guy said it weighed

10 or 12 lbs.

dont forget to mount the batterey well, we worked on an fd this weekend with a battery relocation, and the battery is loose. it appears as if the battery was moving around and it loosened the cables. we arent sure yet but it may have been bad enough to lower the voltage enough to slow down the fuel pump and pop the motor

Especially if the + cable grounded itself out on the body or at the hole it

passes through.



Another thing to think about is having a acid resistant battery tray with drainage

if your thinking about a normal liquid-acid-type battery. Or a marine style battery

box.

I've got an odessey lead-acid battery, odessey make the gel cell batteries as well. The lead-acid battery I have is a completely sealed, zero-maintenance, lead-acid.
