Battery question
If a battery is old, could it lose charge to the point where it wouldn't even power any of the car's electric overnight? Dumb question I know but my car was rigged with an alarm by the owner before the last, and I wanna know if it's sapping power out of the battery. I had charged it before I put it in and it held 12 volts when it was inside and warm.
The alarm is a good place to start looking. And yes as batteries age they don't hold a charge. I would clean all my grounds, inspect cables, have the battery load tested and invest. In aa good trickle charger. Look at rotaryrelateed.com for a good battery description
i checked the voltage on the battery. it was 1.4 so im guessing the battery is completely shot. i have a mess of wires under the steering column, but i also fixed my ground and that seemed to help. before i had to sit with the jumper on the battery for a minute before she would turn over strong enough but now its doing a lot better. needless to say, i still have a long way to go with completely solving this car's electrical issues and mishaps. she runs and starts, thats all thats important for the time being lol.
usually when they patch in the alarm it's right behind the ignition switch, unhook it and rip it all out like i did lol. I had the same issue on my fb and removing the alarm system helped considerably
