Smog Fighter 03-16-2003 10:02 PM

Yup!

Racer X 03-16-2003 10:14 PM

You need to make this https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif your avatar seeing as you love it as much as you do. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Smog Fighter 03-16-2003 10:25 PM

I am sooo there!!!

Racer X 03-16-2003 10:44 PM

I see that.Back on topic. You could give your 12a a huge street port then put on a holley setup and smoke alot of cars if you don't want to turbo it.It depends on how much power you want as to how much $$$ you need to spend.

Smog Fighter 03-16-2003 10:48 PM

Maybe a custom 12A turbo? I could do it, all i need is a welder, parts, luck, a

marriage counselor, and a keg or two..... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/40oz.gif

Racer X 03-16-2003 10:59 PM

Need the T2 manifold and turbo. And a carb hat too.the hookup the oil and coolant lines then the IC and piping and then a downpipe and your set.

Smog Fighter 03-16-2003 11:14 PM

I'm more familiar with injection, so I was thinking about a custom throttle body,

intake, and all.

Racer X 03-16-2003 11:21 PM

Cool.Get a 12a turbo injection setup if you can find one still.Or custom build a upper intake to make a EFI setup.

drifter 03-16-2003 11:27 PM

I reckon a 12a turbo would be mint. "1.2 Litre V8 beater"

drifter 03-17-2003 12:04 AM

I'm not usually a big sticker person(small amount of decals-ok), but when I originally wanted the 20B, I wsa gonna get the "2 Litre V8 Beater" sticker for the back. Guys with V8 over here have stickers like "Only milk and juice comes in 2 Litres".

Racer X 03-17-2003 12:07 AM

Milk and juice still takes iron out to a scrap bin tho.https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

drifter 03-17-2003 12:15 AM

Yeah, they have "2.0 Litres of milk still gets sour" stickers to get them back or some **** like that anyway.

Smog Fighter 03-17-2003 08:19 PM

It would at least be different https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I was thinking of a custom tubular intake and reworking the ACV setup to something

different but still smoggable. I also need to figure out some injector thoughts.

This may sound crazy, but I'm thinking of a "Direct Injection" type of setup. I'll

try to create something visual to explain later. I figure if the fuel is injected after

the exhaust port is closed, then little or no unburned fuel goes out the ehhaust.

Just a thought https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

drifter 03-17-2003 10:03 PM

I look forward to seeing that. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

If you can solve the overlapping problem of the ports (like they did with the renesis), you'll save fuel and have better emmissions.

Racer X 03-18-2003 01:07 AM

Yeah it would be a retro renesis

Smog Fighter 03-18-2003 08:10 PM

a renisance renesis...

I was thinking that under boost, with direct injection, there would only be air

transfering to the exhaust during overlap. A healthy dose of oxygen going to

the catalyst would help in the further reduction of emissions. And, as an added

bonus, I can keep the proper air fuel ratio without losing any fuel during overlap.

Which equals more power with the same economy!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/cool.png

Another beautiful thing about the rotary is the area of injection isn't under the

temperatures and pressures of combustion. So no need for special injectors.

drifter 03-18-2003 10:00 PM

So you would just tap into the housing and make a custom rail or something? That would be good. Is that for the "tired" 12a?

Racer X 03-18-2003 10:34 PM

I never thought of adding a rail to the stock intake. That would work if regulated good.Just means the carbs only function would be to cut off the air supply.

Yup. Of course I would have coolant passage logistics to worry about, but I figure

2 1600cc injectors per rotor and a haltec to run 'em ought to do the trick. Then

build a 1 into 4 tubular intake with a 60mm throttle plate, custom intercooler,

custom turbo......

Or do a N/A for a while to test the theory of the injection system.... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

That's possible too, maybe kinda like a NOS cheater plate under the carb.

But big enough to fit 4 injectors. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif
