I was debating on taking one of my 7's and welding/bolting the body to a chopped 94 b2300 frame. Just wondering if anybody has or knows of anyone who has done something similiar. My plans are to drop in a 20b, i picked up the forms for a special/reconstucted vin application. So what are peoples thoughts on this, any ideas or things to watch out for?

although, i think this could be a fun and unusual project... i wouldn't waste a 20B on it. Put the 20B in a 1st gen and make it into a monster sleeper.

Well aside from the 20b (93-95cosmo) what other stock wankel will have the kind of torque i will need?, Ive seen rotary rockcrawlers and b2200 with rotarys but with my mazda/ranger frame suspension should be cheaper, and no i have no plans of sticking a 351 or anything else in there and besides a 7 is not really a sleeper, being a production sports car. Maybe if i took a 12a and crammed it in a 323 or geo metro then i'd have a sleeper. I will be trying to make a overall mud/trail truck with a 7 body, still street legal of course. i will come up with some concept drawings here shortly

What did the b2200 come with? didn't they come with a 12a at one point? you could try that but i think the biggest challenge is getting to mate the rotary to a 4x4 transmission. Idk if the b2200 was 2x4 or 4x4 but the lack of having something to work off of could pose a serious problem. otherwise, i think that idea is completely badass. If i had the time and the capital to do so then i would go for it. You could make the truck a sleeper and put the 20b in it and allow the option to switch between 2x4 or 4x4. And then i guess throw some type of forced induction on it to get a little more power. You may not be able to kick any sports car buy you should definitely blow some duallys who think they're big cuz they got v-10 diesels out of the water.

No the b-series trucks never had a rotary only the repu stock. if you search '13b suburu' you will find some but they are all wheel drive setups wich woudnt be bad but like you said the option of switchin from 2-4 is pretty much needed to maintain streetability, as far as that goes i think just a custom drive shaft from the tranny to the transfer case would take care of that but then i suppose i would have to down grade to manual lockin hubs, then theres also the issue that i would more then likely have to do either a body lift to get the low sitting rotary to not interfer with the front axle or cut into the firewall to raise the motor/tranny up but then i suppose the angle of the driveshafts would have to be offset with even larger tires to raise everything equally needless to say my pocket and my calculator will hate me.

lol yea that does sound like a lot of work and the REPU was the truck i was thinking of, i thought it was a b series. I don't know much about serious mods and "frankenstiening" mulitple cars together but instead of getting manually locking hubs you could look into one of the old nissan pickups that if im correct has a system that engage when the flip is switched and to disengage you have to drive backwards a little bit. Its either that way or the other way around. But like i said i don't know too much about that stuff and if its even possible. But i guess if you dream it you can make it happen.

the 87-96 Jeep wranglers front hubs lock in when you apply a vacuum source to an actuator on them. Dunno if that would fit your application or not...

Me and my buddy have been looking around for an older jeep wrangler or susuki ninja because the wheel base would be a lot closer, lots less fabbing on the driveline and suspension, wrangler probably would be ideal with all the bolt on aftermarket stuff but on the the other hand i have the b2300 sitting around, anyway im in no rush yet just throwin ideas out, got 3 7's, one to cruise, one to abuse and another for parts. plus gotta get the post count up so i can do the wtb/wts forum.
