He is right though, about the oil, Pennzoil is the devil, worst oil on the market; I would use Castrol or Valvoline.
thats weird bc ive been using it personally since i could drive and its always been fine, before that my dad has always used only pennz

pennzoil leaves the uncleanable thick gooey deposits that they show being cleaned out of the engine.
castrol, or valvoline, or almost anything leaves the engine clean on the inside

seriously on the oil , mazda uses castrol gtx from the factory. you shouldnt use synthetic in rotaries if the oil injection is still in use do to the burning factor of synthetic, it builds up carbon in the motor very heavy, ie stuck seals and what not, stick with valvolie vr-1 or castrol in rotaries , and if in hot climate, over 70f deg id run 10w50 or just plan 50w specialy in turbo cars.
i have seen some harsh things with a poor oil in enginesk, rotarys are very picky when it comes to oil.

Pennzoil has a wax in it and leaves a deposit build up that most other oils don't leave. I've been using Valvoline for over 30 years and have never had an engine failure. My 87 Riviera had 197k on it when I totaled it and the oil on the dipstick looked factory fresh.
10w30 is too thin of an oil for Texas. 10w40 in the winter and 20w50 in the summer is what you need to be using.
Your Dad may use Pennzoil, but how many rotaries has he had. Their oil requirements are tougher than pistons.

im gonna order the pressure reg from the parts store, til i get it im driving the vert.
about the 10w30 being wrong for my car bc im in tx or whatever other reason, im using it bc thats what the fsm says to use. and actually it says to use 20w50 in the winter and 10w30 in the summer, so i think ill go with that. about pennzoil being bad for it i guess ill switch to another brand such as valv or castrol.
