1st gen fender flares

This summer I think I'm going to make a mold for my air dam, And see if anyone wants one.. I dont think many will be interested because you have to make a custom front bumper, and you also have to cut the fenders..
It's either that or I'm going to make a widebody kit for it. That way it will be a "bolt on" application, I want to make something that looks like a widebody kit they put on the FD JGTC (RE Amamiya) race car. But thats a lot of work....

i was thinking about making a one piece fiberglass front end.
could i just completely cover the front end, including fenders, hood, and bumper, with fiberglass mats?
but what i dont know is how would i bolt it down?

Two main pins in the firewall where the hood over laps with the body . the part where the hood latch is.

I considered trying to make a 1 or even a 2-piece Front end... I love the seemless look!!!! Nice and smooth no nasty seem all the way around the hood or between the front air dam and the fenders...
The coolest part about the 1-piece front end is (IMO) the aerodynamics!!! Then add some flush headlights!!
you could duct tape the fenders, front air dam and the hood by them selfs. Then make each one out of fiberglass. Just brush some resin one the duct taped surface the lay a couple layers of fiberglass mat. Then Brush on another layer of resin on top of the mat. while the resin is curing you can lay wax paper over the resin and sqweegie out all the air bubbles and stuff. Let them cure for about 20 MIN the peel off the wax paper..
You should have a pretty smooth surface that requires minimal amount of sanding and body filler..
The pros use a "gel coat" on theres to finish it up. I wonder what this gel coat is, How it is applied, And where I can get hold of it...?????

The hard part with that is making such a large survice smooth. It is easy to lay out the fiberglass keeping it light... but eventually if you want to spray it...
If you have a straight front end. I would suggest making a large mold. lay the wax paper over the entire front end than lay the glassand or foam. Than make the front end.
All you would have to do is worry about simming it up to the frame (you could bolt it anywhere.
This might have already been what you had in mind, but I thought I would throw it out there anyway.

"The hard part with that is making such a large surface smooth" He is SO right!!!!
If I ever try to make a copy of mine I'm going to try and make a mold kinda like the one you were talking about...
I need to put something on my front end that will make it "NON-stick", But still be smooth. That way I can lay fiberglass or spray foam on it to make a good clean mold..
I need to sneak a peak on how the pros do it..!!!

OH..Yeah... You can get big 2 foot by 4 foot pieces of silicon treated "pan liners" through Food service suppliers.. Like cash & carry. Some fast food places use them, But they work pretty good.
