You know a simple search on google can find you lots of answers ...

14.5 gal (1979 & '80) 16.4 gal (1981 & later)

Around 17 mpg (City)

Around 22 mpg (Hwy)

i'm pretty sure my 84 has a 16.9 gal tank...but I guess I could be wrong on the exact size...and I get 19mpg with the 5-speed no matter if I drive like a granny or a formula one racer...so I go with the second one

hmmm...recently i been fillin up around 200 miles on the trip odometor...which is a little over 10 gallons...but my gas guage doesn't work and i havn't really been in a hurry to fix it

and generally speaking chop off a few mpg for the automatic

i'm one of the few people on here that actually trys to improve my MPG...most people don't really care...after all...its an RX-7

and another thing...a first gen will run great on 87 octane...its actually best...if you try to pour 87 into a 13BTT it'll run like crap...probably sputter and die...gotta run those things on high grade...so you're not going to really save much on gas

If you want good mileage learn to drive a stick and buy a diesel VW

couldn't really tell you...i've done all sorts of things to my car...used to get 13-14 when I bought it...but i changed out the plugs, wires, coils, carb, stripped emissions, stripped the cats and replaced with a straight pipe...glass pack on the back

uhmmm

I drive the crap out of my car...people always think its going to blow up...cuz they never hear anything rev that high usually

but I still get a solid 19 no matter how i'm driving...even at 80-85 mph on the interstate

much more than that tho...and it drops fast
