Hey everybody, i have been wanting to get a RX7 for a while now. I was origanally looking for a FD but dont really have enough money to afford one right now, so i am now looking at a 79 RX7 for $1000 im sure i can get him down to $700. Anyway i was wondering what can be done to a 1st gen, how much will it cost to put a 13b turbo in it? Will it need a new tranny? How much for a 20b? What can be done to the 12a(is that what the 1st gens come with?)........Oh and before anybody starts to flame me i did use the SEARCH button and didnt fine to much. Thanks in advance!

If you SEARCH HERE you find out what can and can't be done. You can swap in any rotary you want. The question is how much do you want to spend and how fast do you want to go?I'm building a 84 with a T2 swap for a fun weekend racer car to bring to the strip and cruise with at night.Thats why mine has wheels and body kit to go with the engine bay goodies. Go to the sites thread at the top of this forum and check out the first gen site. There you can get a good idea of what can be done with these cars.Or check out the picture thread.I posted alot of good pics there too.

i think if you were going to get an SA (79-80) rx7, you should keep it for the purist. it'd be easier to put in a 13b Turbo into a '84-'85 SE. i think the oil pan is different. might as well use the turbo tranny, and the LSD. the driveshaft is different though..
