I recently bought an 85 GSL SE with the fuel injected 13B but it seems to be idling too fast it idles at about 1500 to 2000 with or without the AC on I've never worked on this engine before so I know little about this one I do have an 83 GSL with the 12a though so I'm not completely unfamilar with it but it idles between 800 an 1000 an sounds fine. This one sounds too fast.



How do I set the idle on the 13B if it is too high?



Also I seem to have some strange going on's with the oil pressure gauge it reads between 0 an 110 depending on just how it feels could this be anything other than the oil pressure sending unit.



I'm sure I will have more questions on this car as I work with it she is in need of some serious TLC but I only gave $1000 for her an she runs an the AC works an it has new tires an he said a new clutch but he couldn't find the reicept for the clutch but it feels fine so I took his word for it.



IF anyone has any information that can help me get this car up an running an in tip top shape again I would be mighty aplogied.

well first off congrats on the new 7. now as far as idle goes the idle should be somewhere in between 700-900 depending if you got the a/c on or not. As far as your oil pressure goes it could just be your sending unit or your oil pump is gone bad, but sounds more like your sending unit is bad or its grounding out somehow.

How do I adjust the idle speed on the 13B it's fuel injected an I have never adjusted one on a fuel injection system.



I believe it's the oil sending unit to looking for one currently. I also have a question about the gear ratio in this car does anyone know what it was from factory I believe mine has been changed.

well theres a few things that can cause it to have a high idle. if i were you i would check for any vacum leaks or hoses that are disconnected. then i would check the throtle cable to see if it needs adjusting



i just thought of something........it might be irrelevant but you wouldn't happen to know if its bridge ported cuz they idle between 1500 and 2000 when they are

on top of your throttle body is a little screw turn it clockwise for faster counter for slower a 13b idles @ 750 m/t 800 or 850 i think a/t
