Clutch Problem
#1
Hi, got a question, I have a 1985 RX7 12a and my clutch master cylinder was leaking so I replaced it with a brand new one and when i tried to bleed it, it would get pressure and then loose it while I was pumping. So, we just thought air in the lines and kept bleeding it, we bleed it for and hour and finnaly no pressure at all. So we naturally thought bad cylinder. So, I put the old one back on and we bleed it 3 times and it got pressure back and it ran fine, but It kept leaking. So I bought another master cylinder from a different place, put that one on and the same problem, we bleed it for hours and no pressure and when we got pressure it would loose it when I pumped it more. I dont understand, If i woulda had a leak in the lines, my old one wouldnt have worked and why does it get pressure and then loose it from pumping it? It seems like I would pump it till it had pressure and then I'd pump the pressure out? Also the bleeder is missing that rubber top peice, would that be enough to leak out pressure. Also everytime I bleed it there are bubbles I even did it twice in a row without pumping it and got bubbles both times. Anyone have any idea what I should check or what Im doing wrong? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank You

thats a hard one. to me it seems like it should work. yet i have had chalenges with the clutch back and forth. i just rebuilt my 80 and had a similar problem. the rubber piece doesn't make a difference by the way. the main thing i did that helped was when i bled it, i took the whole bleeder off and let the slave fill up real good first. then i put the bleeder back on and bled it normal. another thing that might be happening is that with the old masters leak, you weren't having too much pressure. now with the new one theres more pressure that might be too much for the slave cylinder. and the slave is the problem now. just a thought. good luck
