The annual Bay Area RX-7 Club Healdsburg-to-the-Coast run will be held Sunday, September 16th. This has proven to be one of the more exciting runs the Club makes. If you're up for high-speeds (within the limits of the law, of course) on an excellent two-lane road (most of the way) with many curves and elevation changes, then this is for you!!! Frankly, this is not for the faint of heart, driver or passenger, so leave the SO behind if s/he is inclined to motion sickness, or is disinclined to be tossed around in the pax seat.

The general meeting place will be the Vista Point at the north end of the Golden Gate Bridge. We will depart there at 10:30 AM, and take a gentle cruise up 101 to the Dry Creek Road turnoff at Healdsburg. At the north end of Dry Creek Road is a ranger station. We should be there by 11:30. We will wait there a reasonable period of time until everyone gathers before we BLAST OFF!

The run will take us from the ranger station to Hwy 1 at Sea Ranch. Prior to reaching Sea Ranch, we'll gather up so that we hit Hwy 1 as a group. At Hwy 1 we'll go north to Gualala where we'll have lunch. After lunch, and giving time for the food to settle, we'll reverse our course. We should get back to the ranger station in time to do some wine tasting in the local area if you're so inclined.

Here are some important notes on this run:
  • Come with a full tank of gas. Please don't make us wait for you to tank up enroute.

  • Consider putting a few extra pounds of air pressure in your tires as you will be going hard (I hope).

  • For those with adjustable shocks, I'd set them in the midrange. The first part of the run is great road, but the latter part is rather rough. A hard setting will be OK for that first part, but you'll lose your fillings in the latter part.

  • Have a CB set to channel 21. The CBs will probably be of little use during the run if we get too spread out :^) due to the topography, but could also be very useful if you have any mechanical problems.

  • Bring water. It could be hot. The run won't be that long, but you might get a bit overheated; you, not your car.
Please email me to let me know if you intend to participate. First, I don't want to leave anyone behind. Secondly, I'd like to forewarn the restaurant of our invasion.

Joe
