Damn... i'm going to a funeral for a coworker today @1......
She worked here at Orange County for 10 yrs, and was just a few yrs away from retiring with "full" benefits. She would have been 65 next month, and died of late-stage leukemia. I actually talked a lot of smack behind her back cuz she wouldn't pull her own weight in the unit; she was constantly making errors, leaving early, and having us run errands around the office for her
My last words with her on her get-well card was "Come back soon cuz [our clerk/secretary] misses you" as a joke. I feel guilty as hell, but i'm also pissed off that no one else in the unit (all women) who SUPPOSEDLY feel bad aren't willing to take 1 hr off sick/vacation leave to go pay their respects, giveing me a bunch of b.s. reasons why they don't feel comfortable going. I bet they will all still take their extra off-the-record lunch, leave early, and come in late for the rest of the month. ********.....
