The gutting and cleaning. I had pics of the interior after I got it, but the hard drive they were on crashed and I have not recovered them yet.

Why did you put a cross-bar behind your control arm pickups? Are you going to hang something off of it, or looking to add support somehow?

Wow, I thought I had some work to do. Big thumbs up to you, looks like its going to be a killer ride.

Yeah, I never liked that they're cantilevered out there in single-shear, but I've got a thru-hole in the threads for a castle nut. If I had room to slip something else on, I might too. So what are your next plans for the car?

First impression:

Early California blue plate car (adds about $2K value to an RX-2 Coupe), clean, healthy, and all original floors with factory sound deadening, nice paint in engine compartment. A real survivor. Great find!

Second impression:

Nice paint in engine compartment destroyed and same blacked out (takes away about $2K from the value of an RX-2 Coupe) . . . then I started crying and couldn't keep on looking.

All the best for your project. Another one that's not being restored but customized. Can't even imagine how scarce original RX-2 Coupes will be in just a few years from now . . . and how valuable . . .

I would restore it but it's not in as good of shape as it looked when I got it. It the previous owner's first car and we all know how we treated our first car. There was a lot of damage, it was on it's 3rd set of front fenders and the only reason it looked as good as it did is because his dad worked for a body shop. I would say that 80% of the interior was a total loss if the body was a bit better I would of saved the car.

For my next duce I will restore it.

Sound like a race car, then. Cage it and drive it like hell! I've been looking for an RX-2 to ball up (that's already toasted, mind you) because they'd make fun race cars.
