Greetings from Washington state!



A little back story to give you all an idea of where I'm coming from.



Summer before my senior year in high school (1984)

Dad tells me if I can keep my grades up above a 3.3GPA, he'll get me a car. Best buddy come to my house and says "I've found your car, dude! Let's go take it for a test drive!" Find a completley stock, original owner, 73 Rx2 coupe, 4 speed, lime green with a black vinyl top and black interior. This thing is PERFECT, with a stack of receipts from University Mazda. Take it out and this thing RIPS. Take Dad back 2 days later and make the deal- A whopping $600. Proceed to do the kid thing and pull off all the smog, drop in a header and exhaust and drive the **** out of it. Blow doors off all my friends cars. Decide its time for an upgrade, and get a streetport 12a from JLC in Kent, with a EI and a side draft Delorto. Now its WAY faster, and I am in heaven. Drive that one for a long time. I lose it to a bad radiator, and go for the big block upgrade, and get an Atkins streetport 13b. Launched it fairly quickly, I think to a bad/plugged oil cooler, and he does me right and puts it back together at a very reasonable price, and I geek it and don't put antifreeze in it. Well, it cracks the housing on the top, and I go for a Hayes streetport, Holley/ RB manifold, with a 1st gen Rx7 5 speed, lightweight flywheel, centerforce clutch, 1st gen GSL limited slip, complete suspension and steering rebuild, 14 inch 5 star Eagle alloys (all I could find in the right size/blot pattern), and I'm off again. Paint it Bright Aqua metallic, black out all chrome, remove all emblems, build a big front airdam (wrinked the stock lower apron), and....park the car. It has Prelude seats, MOMO steering wheel, 4 point bar, no back seat, no carpet or console, glass is good.



So, now its been sitting for about 7 years (inside now), and I need to rebuild the brake master because I can't get it to pump up any pressure. Now if I am going to go through the system, I'd like to put 4 wheel discs from a first gen GSL, including that systems masteer cylinder and proportioning valve (if there is one) I see the rear brackets are available, but from what donor car do these adapt to my Rx2? My son really wants the cool little blue car to work, and so do I.

Very nice. yeah i live over in puyallup and ive got me a 72 rx2. hand me down from my grandpa over in pasco who used to work for mazda. my aunt drove it in highschool in the late 80's. and now ive got it my sr year. between me and my dad and grandpa we're fixing it up. body is good with few rust spots. i am about to do a swap with atkins; im giving them a 10A and a 12A for a fuel injected 13b. its a lot of fun, to fix these cars cause they are loud and obnoxious, and nobody knows what it is...but then i blow the wheels and doors of all my buddies cars

The Holley I have on this car is a modified 600, and I don't have the linkage for the oil metering pump. I have been doing the premix thing when I fill up, and I'm erroring on the side of caution for my ratio. Any info/ideas what I should be shooting for? 50/1? 80/1? I'm at 50/1 now, and when I start driving this more often, I'd like to get out of the 'killing mosquitos for miles' smoke. Anyone go through this? The way the carb sits, I'll have to get real crafty with a linkage set up, so for now, I'll carry the 2 stroke oil in the trunk.



Took apart the master cyl and cleaned it. Looks fine, have good pedal. Start the car, and the clutch had frozen itself to the pressure plate, so I dropped the trans, and decide to put in a rebuilt 2nd gen 5 speed that I had for awhile. Car is together, less fabbing a new trans mount. Still tons of little things to address, but I'll be driving it soon. Will advise when that happens.

Got a question regarding the gas/oil ratio- I don't have a provision for the oil metering pump on the carb set up I'm running, and I am premixing 2 stroke oil with my gas. What ratio should I be shooting for? 80/1? 100/1? I will be adjusting as I go, until I'm not smoking like a massive polluter.



Any experience out there?

For road racing purposes, meaning full revs 90% of the time, we use 5-6 oz. of 2-stroke oil for every 5 gallon of fuel. For partial throttle application, even spirited street driving, you'll need less and will still be safe. The car shouldn't emit any smoke that is visible in your rear view mirror, ever.

Thanks Bernard! I will start at 3/4 oz per gallon, and adjust down slowly. I am taking it out on its maiden voyage today (fri 3/21). This is huge guys. I have never taken my daughter out in it before, and she is in love with the car. I'm going to visit her at school for lunch. She's gonna be surprised. Still tons of other little things, but here we go......
