i'll stop being pushy, and i'll even apologise for it. but i'm not gonna chnge my statement about ported motors and shutting off.
ANY mech/builder/tuner that tells you it is normal for a ported rotary to shut off repeatedly on cold start up because "the ports are too big" is either an idiot or is just plain lying to you!
about the only time this might be true is with a carbbed motor that isn't equiped with a choke.
a FD with power FC should be able to start and hold a solid idle weather its street ported, bridge ported, or Perif ported!! its all in the tunung.
i have a friend with a bridge ported Turbo II that runs a stock ecu with F con and AIC. the car runs hard under boost and starts and idles beautifully. it idles like a bridge "brap brap brap" but it starts on one try, and NEVER shuts off.

if i'm wrong about this whole shutting off thing i'll give you a public appology at the next meet works2r. but untill then, ask any mech of YOUR choice to have a look at the maps in your power FC. your car does not have to keep shutting off on you like that. (i'm trying to help you, without being pushy here) 
see vosko, you're right about needing to redo your maps, at least you realize that that is your problem.
my car runs like **** when its cold too, but thats because i never hooked up my idle air control motor, so its hard to do the cold start maps.
my ports are probably close in size to yours vosko, by the next meet i promise you will hear my car start and idle like a bone stock rx7, mabye just a lil louder

when its hot mine idles fine and purs like a stock rx7 just way louder haha
i attempted to redo my maps last night it works but there is another few hours retuning still needed. i loaded the original map back up because it runs so sweet @ wot

No fighting or I'm going to lay the smack down!!!!. We all get a bit hush hush, and a bit defensive when it comes to our cars. Sometimes things get outta hand. **** happens, let's leave it in the past.
