hope this doesn't seem annoying me with these questions but this seemed like a good forum since NJ is notorious for bad insurance so i figured who better to know where to get decent nj then guys with rx-7's who live in this unfair state.

so where do you guys reccommend for good insurance inside NJ?

right now I have First Trenton via MacCormack agency, but i'm trying to find something cheaper.

so what are my options?

thanks in advance,

kevin

amp 12-08-2002 09:27 AM

possibly state farm... ?

no geico in joisee

SPEED_NYC 12-08-2002 12:50 PM

i have travelers ins. 7000 a year for full coverage on my FD. :(

teknics 12-08-2002 04:14 PM

hmm havent tried state farm, shall give them a call possibly tomorrow.

do you have them, or do you just know of them?

here's to hoping for good rates

kevin

shift7 12-08-2002 04:24 PM

my god, your guyses insurance is unbelievable, mines $125/month full coverage on any car, except a ferrari https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR

i go through state farm

vosko 12-08-2002 06:01 PM

my fd is $2200 year

teknics 12-08-2002 09:38 PM

vosko not to intrude but what's your age and what area of nj do you live in?

I'm yet to pass the "23-year-old-gets-giant-rate-drop" goal, and i live in wayne/passaic county which has rather steep rates.

i must put state farm down though, a few people have given me some very good opinions of them, my neighbor being one of them https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

kevin

vosko 12-09-2002 01:14 AM

Trust me it doesnt go down THAT much, lol

Then they will give you the "well when you turn 30 it goes down alot" line of ****.

vosko 12-09-2002 12:25 PM

$1500 a year for my FD for full coverage is cheap to me.....

teknics 12-09-2002 03:55 PM

this is great i have some stuff to go with. I'm going to see if after a year liberty mutual will except me back, this time by myself.

I was wondering any wintertime FD meets gonna be goin on? I'll be putting my downpayment on wednesday or thursday hopefully, and will take delivery end of december i hope. I want to get together for some fun and to watch you guys showoff your sick cars https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR

I'll be at englishtown as soon as it opens, either their or at island, with my friends they have a 2001 typeR, and a 12 second eclipse, we also have a friend running an '01 tiburon just for laughs (has a stage 3 clutch haha) I'll probably also have friends around with some civic si's, mustangs, a whole range of stuff.

you guys are great! must remember to sign up for the club as soon as i get my car!

kevin

vosko 12-10-2002 12:17 AM

next meet will be in january. probably a dyno meet https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

teknics 12-10-2002 01:45 PM

great, you can definitely count me in if everything is as planned, finally people to talk about rotors with https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

damn reciprocating engine folks at school, lol.

and due o this thread ill be calling liberty mutual today to get a quote, what kind of coverage do you have for $2200? that way i can see if my insurance is super steep https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

kevin.

vosko 12-10-2002 06:00 PM

full coverage, collision yadda yadda, i have higher than the mininum. second tier. i forget the exact numbers. it actually was like $1800 last year. it went up... NJ imposed a rate increase :(

teknics 12-10-2002 08:04 PM

what is second tier exactly? im not fluent in insurance terminology https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR

hopefully i can grab a plan for like $3000 a year

kevin

vosko 12-10-2002 08:09 PM

i meant like they offer coverage like 150k/50k/50k. i got one step above the minimum LOL

teknics 12-10-2002 08:56 PM

ohhh thats what i was planning to do https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png, seems the best way to do it IMO

thanks for all the help...you know anyone around here who does porting by any chance? (random question but hey this topic has strayed before lol)

kevin.

vosko 12-10-2002 09:08 PM

local shop in paterson. jr's rotary performance. he did all the work on my FD. top notch. why are you asking about just porting ??? wait till you get a car first haha

teknics 12-10-2002 09:17 PM

hehe i'm making a knowledge base for myself.

You're close to paterson? I live right outside of paterson a little ways off of hamburg tunpike in wayne.

You should see i have like a 2 year plan of execution going down in a little word document. This forum is making it easy to get everyone's experiences together, mesh them, then take the best results and decide what to do.

The first stuff i'm doing is mainly cheap (until the power FC and commander) after those mods then im gonna start focusing on intake, exhaust, and more power, more power, and again more power https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png.

I'm going all out, i want a monster of a car, after having a 4" lifted Jeep, then a 3" lowered Durango, i'm ready for my 2-seater phase haha, i personally think ill be hanging on to this car for a loooooong time.

kevin.

vosko 12-10-2002 09:29 PM

your first mod should be a powerFC in my opinion. that is after you make sure the car has no mechanical problems

teknics 12-10-2002 09:37 PM

here's my mod/addon list for th first month or so (in no apparent order, most will be slapped on at the same time i figure, except the gauges):

99spec taillights (whenever i get time)

Boost gauge

Compression Gauge

Water Temp Gauge

Fan Mod

Change Fluids

Silicone Hoses

Grounding Kit

Koyo Radiator

Aluminum AST

Power FC and Commander

Since at this time in my rotary world you're car is god let me know if i'm missing something https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png. That should be done (except the PFC) for the january dyno meet you might have, soon after i should get the PFC then begin adding the real mods exhaust intake etc.

thanks,

kevin.

vosko 12-10-2002 09:48 PM

WTF is a compression gauge. they are for checking compression on the engine while the car is sitting. you can't have it just chilling LOL

downpipe, catback, intercooler, better fuel pump(SR Ultimate is pretty good), ummm. since i'm good at spending money people don't have.... i'll list some more stuff if you want

teknics 12-10-2002 09:52 PM

the compression gauage is just on there so i remember to buy it to check the engine hehe, forgot to take it off.

Yea those are my "next step" mods. 3" SS Downpipe, some sort of catback, FMIC, i was considering a Supra Fuel Pump.

Yea go ahead list more mods, putting ideas in my head is always good, as i am good at spending money i dont have https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png and it will give me stuff to research. I'm aiming for good quarter mile times, but the ability to break out in a street race when some ugly mustang revs at me or something https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

kevin

BTW, i was reading about NitrousExpress (no i dont want NOS) but you should consider something they have called the "N"-tercooler, it shoots nitrous or CO2 through a tube in front of the intercooler and supposively drops the temp going into the intercooler drastically increasing boost, something like that, dunno the price though.

teknics 12-10-2002 10:01 PM

here's the n-tercooler thiing from their website if you're interested:

"Using either nitrous or CO2 this unit can reduce air inlet temperatures dramatically. In a recent dyno test, a turbocharged Honda, equipped with an NX “N-tercooler ”, increased its baseline by an astounding 52 horsepower! If it makes horsepower, it must be Nitrous Express!"

and it's $492.00 https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/moon.gif

thanks,

kevin.

vosko 12-10-2002 10:09 PM

$500............................ maybe i would get that if i was gonna run N20..... my car has enough power already lol

teknics 12-10-2002 10:15 PM

gimme more stuff to spend money on https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

if i got this car earlier i'd have ~$600 to spend on mods, but instead im getting a video camera, but thats like a mod for the car hehe

kevin.

vosko 12-11-2002 10:04 AM

bigger secondary fuel injectors, adjust fpr, there is so much stuff..........

treceb 12-11-2002 02:11 PM

if youre looking for aftermarket exhaust, you can pm rxaholic(sp). hes selling his, for a decent price. if he hasnt sold it already.

actually he might have a few things u might be interested in, since youre new to the seven.

75 Repu 12-11-2002 02:14 PM

OK, I am 21.. I wanted to kow how much, Monthly the insurance would cost for an FD, probably 93.. I asked around and it is like $250.00 full coverage.. I would rather shoot myself..If I can get it for like less than $200.00 I can get an FD next year..

vosko 12-11-2002 02:25 PM

you mean $200 month ?

75 Repu 12-11-2002 02:31 PM

Yeah $200.00 a month.. sorry..

teknics 12-11-2002 04:53 PM

haha i'd love $250 a month, my durango at the moment is like $350 a month https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png.

I sill have yet to call liberty mutual, i've been busy trying to sell some **** and earn more money to put towards the rx7 at the moment, since the durango is in the shop so i cant even try selling it at the moment :(

ill let you guys know how the insurance hunt goes, just heard that insurance rates are going up 14% next year, and without full coverage the prices are almost doubling....god damn state.
