I have had alot of different tires. To answer some questions here. The Potenza S-02 PP are great tires but too expensive. I actually liked the S-02's more than the S-03's. The Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 is a good cheap tire. It will actually wear pretty descent, over 20,000 miles of regualr driving. But for racing, they suck ***. Someone once said it was like racing on buttered glass. That's about right. I had them on my Eclipse GSX and spun them through 2nd in an AWD car.



I run the Nitto 555R's on the back of my car right now. I really like them alot, they still spin but you can definately tell the difference between them and street tires. My friends all run the BFG drag radials, they all like them, but they do not build a size that I like. A 245-50-16 is the closest size and it is a bit too tall for me. I run the BFG G-Force TA KDW for street driving. I have not tried the new KDW2's yet but they look nice. Yokohama AVS Sports are almost as nice as the Potenza S-02's but not quite I didn't think. They have just as good Dry traction but the S-02's did better in the wet.



I do not drive in snow, so I can't help you there. If you have questions on any other tires, just ask. I have workd in the tire indusrty for years now so I have seen and tried alot of tires.

I was looking at the kumho's...how are they with cornering ability?

Actually pretty descent for the money. A few of my friends Auto-X with them and they did pretty good. These are not real high horsepower cars so it may be different for yo, it really depends on what kind of cornering you are doing. They take abuse pretty good and don't wear out fast due to the abuses of Auto-Xing, they seem to have really good shoulders on them and don't exagerate mis-alignment.



The only thinkg was that in my GSX, I was trying to show a friend the power I had and the ability to take corners at realy high speeds so I flew around this downhill sweeping right hander and lost it about half way through with those tires and spun a few times and luckily never hit anything. At the same time where I use to go street racing, coming back from to the start line, I flew back to practive my shifts and took a corner at almost 100mph and those tires held on perfectly. So I am not sure why it spun that one time, I may have caught a small area of water and lost traction for a second or I just pushed them too hard that time.



One of my friends has them on his FD as well and he loves them. He says that they hold great and launch great, but he can't drive for **** anyways so I don't really go by his opinion for tires.

My Kuhmo 712's held up pretty good last year during Autocross.



This year, I'm going to try a smaller wheel/tire combo and going with Falken Azenis tires. So many autocrossers swear by the Azenis's for the price. When you need a great Autocross tire that you can drive to and from the track with and can't afford slicks which will usually not even last a full season of racing, these Falkens are the best bang for the buck.



I've only found them for sale at tires.com.

I run 18X 8.5. I have 235 35 18... i dont feel like gettin up to check. the front are staggerd

with 17's and are 45's.

I can fit 45's on the rear so I get more sidewall squish. Ifunny those bigger cars weight must help plant the tires too cause they aint spinnin on street as much.

Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 aren't anywhere as good as I expected. Let me just say I really like drifting, and I'm not too bad at it myself.... My setup I use for drifting is 712 in the BACK and Dunlop SP8000 for the front. The 712 give me a good enough exit speed for drifting, while not having the insane grip a lot of the more grippier tires have. The SP8000 were a LOT better at Buttonwillow Raceway for me than the 712's.



I heard the new Kumho MX is pretty good... also the Yokohama ES100's are pretty good too. Then I also hear S03's are a great performance tire, though the wear isn't so great. The S02 is very grippy, but at the limits, they don't seem to be so stable. If you're running low profile (maybe anything under 45 series) I really recommend Bridgstone S03. Many people I know have had a lot of success with these tires.

BFG KDWS. and I have a set of 245-45-16 BFG KDW for the back but they were on for 1 week then I put my 555R's on for racing one day and I have never took them off since. I wanted a tire that could steer me throough trouble in case I was ever caught in the rain/snow because my Nitto's aint gonna help any.
