Here's the scenario: You have a choice in rims. One set is CAST, 18x8", comes in at 22 lbs. The second set of rims is FORGED, 18x8", 22 lbs. The cast rims are about $1050 for the set, and the forged rims are $1750 for the set. If both are available and affordable (you got the cash either way), which do you choose? Why?

forged rims are stronger. they won't bend or warp if you hit a pothole!

the cast are Fittipaldi and the forged are Volk Racing.

That's the other thing, the wheel styles are different, but I like both equally.

What forged Volks weigh 22 lbs for 18x8? My forged 17x9.5" Volk SE37As weigh 16.6 lbs each. I have heard that 18x10" forged Volks weigh 18 lbs or so. Volk also makes some cast wheels, so I suggest you post the model you are looking at so we can tell you if they are forged or cast. You should be able to get forged Volks in 18x8" that weigh less than 18 lbs for $1800-2000 or so. I recommend you get some forged wheels for weight and strength if you are going to spend the money.

Interesting... I found on the "other" forum that the Volk GL57 Pro's are forged and weigh 22 lbs. If they only weigh 18 lbs, then it's a no-brainer!!!

Oops, I mistyped -- I have Volk SE37K wheels, not SE37As.

Perhaps the cast Gram Lights weigh 22 lbs in that size, but I would expect the forged Pro version (if I understand that correctly) to be lighter. The CE28N are supposed to be the lightest Volk forged wheels, and I don't think they cost much more than the price you are quoting. Contact "ARD T2" on the other forum to get a price quote.
