Ok, so today was pretty nice out, and i felt takin the fd out for a spin. I bought some 'new' stock 3rd gen wheels off of the other forum a couple weeks ago, and I never got around to getting new tires mounted on them. So I dropped them off at a local tire shop and they mounted some new rubber for me. I get back to my car, and start taking the old wheels off. Go pick up the new wheels, and the rear two go on just like normal. and then i get up to the front and start loosening the lugs, and i get to the 'security' lug, grab the adapter, start loosening it, or trying to anyway. it seems that ****** was on there to stay, and the grooved part in the adapter socket broke off. so now i have 2 new tires on the back and two nice wheels with new rubber sitting in my damn garage waiting to be put on. The pic should explain it a little better.

Oh, and don't worry, this isn't like ricer-ville, i have stock 3rd gen wheels all around, nothing stupid like aftermarket wheels on the rear and stockers on the front. so no flames please :bigthumg:

whatever company makes the wheel lock you should be able to contract them and get a new key made. usually they just need a number off of the key but you can also send them the broken piece just to be sure. I'd contract them first. If all else fails you can use the tried and true method of hammering an old socket on over the wheel lock and taking it off that way.

You can just buy a deal from snap on that will spin off any locking lug, I have one, they are about $50.00, but well worth it.

Jimmy,

on the actual security key, there is a serial number... that number is what you need to tell the company who made the lock lug nuts... the company should also be printed on the key as well

Hmm, I will have to see if I can find a part number on it, I bought it about 2 years ago so I dunno if there is still a part number on it or not, I'll let you know.

So not all FD wheel locks are the same key? Cause if they're the same, you could just buy/borrow a key off a wrecked 7 or something...

i was also wondering about that. I was actually at a mazda dealership about a month ago in the parts department, and they had a few of the anti-theft lug sets there, and i thought to myself 'hmm, maybe i should get one, just incase'

and whattya know, i need one.

i couldn't find a number or any other kind of markings on it. looks like i'm just gonna have to hammer a socket on it and pick up a new set of lugs.
