Reese, I was thinking about that boost controller/wastegate problem. But I didn't see why the factory turbo would over load the wastegate. I know that it's just a puny internal WG and all but still. I just need to rip out the stock turbo and IC and put something decent in there. The ports on my engine are WAY too large for that stocker anyway. But I didn't want to mess with it if I was going to sell it. As far as Tyler, he's going to look at Jaared's TII first and mine as a second option. That's fine with me because I really don't want to see the car go. And there really isn't that much "up" with the TII at all. It just needs some TLC which it hasn't had in forever since I'm over here.

Ben, I know you would rather have other stuff first, but you need to remember what will keep your engine running the longest!!

Steiner, you keeping secrets from us now?? I promise not to steal your ideas like Reese does. Sorry big bro, I had to throw that in there. Well, I'm at work like usual so I'm gonna run for now. Laterz.

Damnit, Zachary! Heh.

think about it, though. You have a full 3" exhaust on there. The reason the Racing Beat system adds 59 HP is because it's a free flowing exhaust. What it's doing is allowing the car to breathe easier (getting rid of the exhausted gasses). What it's also doing is letting the system reach a higher boost level than the stock exhaust will allow. i.e. the hp gain is more from higher psi than anything else.

Because of this, you're going to keep hitting huge boost levels until you

A) port the hell out of your stock wastegate,

B) put a more restrictive system on the car, or

C) get rid of the stock setup and give in to the fact that you really want to go full turbo/manifold/wastegate.

Pros/cons of each are:

A) Pro: It's FREE. Will allow better boost control by allowing more excess boost to vent. Con: You have to pull it off to do so, and it's still a stock wastegate.

B) Pro: You won't hit as high a boost level without the aid of a boost controller, so you won't have to avoid full throttle. Con: You won't hit as high a boost level without using a boost controller. If you decide to upgrade a LOT, the smaller system might be a restricive point.

C) Pro: Much better and efficient tools. Larger turbo will be capable of handling more boost with less heat. Larger wastegate will be able to vent much more excess boost than the stocker. The cast HKS manifold is capable of handling 400 RWHP and is only about 250 new. Con: MONEY! TIME! MONEY!

Hope this helps. . .

Reese is very right on everything. The stock exhaust is actually one of the ways the car controlls boost, along with the wastegate and fuel cut off. If it's any reference I hit almost a full bar one of the first nights I realized I could get into boost. So that's almost 14.7 lbs. With that much exhaust, due to the porting, flowing through the turbo it's going to spool a hell of a lot more. Eh Reese I still think you should throw a stocker on there and see what kind of response you get . I still estimate that you'll get like 4-5 lbs at idle, and 14lbs at 2 grand. Then the compressor shaft is gonna have a fit and fly through the front of your car I would pay to see it.

Reese, your points are all very valid and well put. What are you doing with all of your old stuff once you order the new GT40R?? If I remember right you have an old mani, wastegate, and a 60-1 that you won't need anymore. Is that true?? Let me know something. Laterz.

well i think he said that he sold his old turbo, manifold, and even downpipe.

i'm hoping that my engine comes tomorrow and i have the 7 all set up for it (read: removed the passenger seat to allow room for engine up front with me)

i'm letting my baby sit up front with me on the ride to Reese's. i think the engine will ballance the car pretty well being that it weighs about as much as i do.

Nice, congrats Derek. Are you rebuilding it at Reese's or is it going in as is?

its going in as is and hopefully it'll last atleast 50,000 miles. once it does go pop, i'd like to either go with a really agressive SP or a half BP like Reese has. i should have a stand-alone of some sort by then (read: sometime in December.)

Like Derek said, my old setup is already sold. Sorry, buddy.

In the good news department, IT HAS ARRIVED!! OMG, this thing is rather large. Heh. This is gonna be fun! My manifold should be here around Thursday. Once it's here, I'll see about getting my oil line and dp fabbed. At that point, I should be good to go and get back on the road.

Oh yeah, I STILL have no paint. Soon, though. . . ( I say that all the time)
