what type of weight oil should i use
thicker oil gives the illusion of better pressure, obviously its like sucking a milkshake through a straw.
Thicker oil in severe use and summer use is what you want, winter stick with the thinner stuff.
The 20 year old owners manual agrees as well.

The key to long life is DO NOT hammer on the car until you have warmed it up sufficient, and DO NOT hammer on it just before parking.
God I wish people would stop revving their ******* motors before they park my buddy does it all the time and I yell at him every time...

Unless it's diesel, then the key is to start it and hit the accelerator, never warm up a diesel.

Why not? I mean even the VW manual said just start and drive away slowly but what's the reason for that? Defeating carbon build up?
Although once I let my diesel jetta idle for an entire 9 hour shift because the glow plugs were shot and in the cold there was no way it would start back up again if I shut it off...
