what type of weight oil should i use

i have an S5 turbo and i use 10w-30 but i read an article that 20w-50 is better. its that true or is the oil weight to much

I use 10-40 in the winter and 20-50 in the summer

thicker oil gives the illusion of better pressure, obviously its like sucking a milkshake through a straw.



Thicker oil in severe use and summer use is what you want, winter stick with the thinner stuff.



The 20 year old owners manual agrees as well.

yeah cant really go wrong with the manual. in my experience as long as there is oil, you're fine

The key to long life is DO NOT hammer on the car until you have warmed it up sufficient, and DO NOT hammer on it just before parking.

God I wish people would stop revving their ******* motors before they park my buddy does it all the time and I yell at him every time...

Unless it's diesel, then the key is to start it and hit the accelerator, never warm up a diesel.

Why not? I mean even the VW manual said just start and drive away slowly but what's the reason for that? Defeating carbon build up?



Although once I let my diesel jetta idle for an entire 9 hour shift because the glow plugs were shot and in the cold there was no way it would start back up again if I shut it off...
