Well, due to recent events in my life, I am contimplating stepping down my project a little. I will give a quick rundown and few questions for people running similar setups.

Jspec S5 TII Engine and Tranny(pray for good compression)

S5 turbo with ported WG (upgrade to Rotaryshack hybrid later)

Manual boost controller

Weber 45 or 48 DCOE prepped

Upper manifold adapter

Make carb hat or buy from Rotaryshack

Walbro or equivalent external EFI pump

Malory regulator

Larger lines from tank

MSD and DFIS

Locked Dizzy

Ebay intercooler

Make all piping and exhaust myself

I will tune myself with a LM1 wideband, and hopefully some advice from Robert and others who have knowledge in this area. I think I can do most of it for around 4-5k. I havn't built a parts list yet, but I will know specifics pretty soon. This extremely cheaper then my other plans. My questions are:

Is the driveability of a blow-through setup bad? I have heard of many people driving them daily and having no problems. I would just like to get some opinions from people who have them and to hear their impressions of their setups. I understand the characteristics of a Weber and even a carb for that matter.

I would like to achive around 300whp with the hybrid turbo. This will come later with a rebuild.

Well, this is what I have been contemplating. I was thinking of a Camden, but I can make more power for less money with this setup.

Opinions?

Thanks

I have a better idea. Complete S-5 jspec motor. Add a power fc with commander new, $ 740 shipped., buy a used FD map sensor, IAT sensor and Ignitor, used FC coil packs, <$200, Buy a used S-5 harness. if your motor doesn't come with one, $150 tops, repin the harness, pretty easy actually. Bang, fulll standalone for about a grand. I plugged in my power fc, initalized it, and drove it problem free over a 150 to Ground Zero in Portland the NEXT day.

I did a thread about it in the nw section, standalone for less than a grand. BTW Steve Kan loves tuning power FC's Not a huge fan of blow throughs, imo its impossible to compensate for all the variable, timing, load, fuel, temp, etc etc.

If you have some specific questions about going power fc pm, and I will walk you through it.

Why put a carb on it if you are going through that much of a headache?

S5 T2, with a PFC. Keep everything else stock and call it good. Or just keep your eye out for a good deal on a turbo 1st gen, they are becoming more common.

As inconsistent as my DCO48 is and always needing re-tuning when the weather changes, I drive up a big hill etc, I would never go with a Weber blow-through for a street driven car. Thats a recipe for certain disaster, IMO. But they sure do look good!

really? even out there? i guess going from 0% humidity and 1000degrees to like 20% humidity and 95 is still a big jump

If u wanna talk to robert call his shopp. I my self have talked to him twice just to BS... Driveability issues have to do with tuneing of course. I know a guy who built a carb turbo 13b. it did like 11.70. I believe it was a t70 and it was boosting a whopping 8 psi no intercooler,, he ran out of money hehehe. Its all about air\fuel ratio that is key so Ive been told. oh yeah it was a overlap on bridge.... oh and the humidity issue that someone mentioned,, well central florida is pretty hot and humid so nutts to that
