Emission requirements
I've been contemplating purchasing a FC as a project car (Turbo II to be exact) by 2008 and right now I'm just planning things ahead of time.
I've never owned a stock turbocharged vehicle or a OBDI FI car so I was curious as far as what are the requirements as far as emissions go? Besides the obvious of having a catalytic converter and not having any check engine lights, do they do anything else at the emissions station?
I figured if I was to do a aftermarket turbo upgrade and they tried to say something about it I can claim that it's stock but what are you guys experience with inspection?
Thanks in advance.

turbo 2 isnt odb1 until 89...
what they do at the emissions station depends on the state, like here in CA we have a visual, where they check to make sure that all the emissions parts are there, and then they do a dyno test of the tailpipe emissions. as far as i know we're the only place in the world that does this to cars that are more than 20 years old, and cars that are obd2.
on the 89+ cars you only get check engine lights if you start unplugging stuff, it doesnt know or care if the cat is there

Very nice and thank you. Yeah, someone just told me about the OBDI thing too.
Thanks for your help.
