My TPS is going out. At idle, it revs slightly, then bogs to nothing, revs, bogs, and if I turn the steering wheel , it usually dies. It does it mostly when it's warmed up. First cold start of the day, it doesn't do it as bad.



I was thinking of adjust the idle to a lil' bit higher, so it won't stall out when it fluctuates bad like that. It hasn't yet flooded or anything, and I'd like to keep it that way.



There are two screws...one is cam adjustment, the other is 'fast idle'. I'm going to assume 'fast idle' is the one I want?



I am going to replace the TPS, but I don't want to resort to buying a new one.

 

The main idle adjustment is the air bypass bleed screw on the top center of the TB. There may be a rubber cap on it.

In the picture below, it's near the text box at the top of the yellow line.



If it is already full open, then there is the hard throttle stop.

 

You can adjust the idle stop screw, but only make very small incremental adjustments, and it wouldn't hurt to mark your starting point. Adjusting this can lead to more problems than it solves. Believe it from one who found out the hard way.

 

Exactly. When you mess with the throttle stop screw it throws your TPS out of adjustment. Do NOT touch the throttle stop screw unless you know how to reset the TPS.
