I am a little concerned about this, because I do see some side to side shaft play on my new greddy t88. Do brand new turbos have minor side to side shaft play?

ball bearing turbos seem to have a little when new.

Now I'm confused, some poeple I talk to say there should be some minor side to side shaft play before the turbo gets oil. Then others say there should be no shaft play. I'm confused?

if it's very minor side to side play, i wouldn't worry about it. if it has end to end play, i would be concerned.

It's just minor side to side shaft play. I guess this is normal untill the turbo gets oil.

I will sleep well thats is for sure!

Minor play comes from the clearance between the shaft and the bearings. Space that's taken up by oil when the car's running.
