finding a motor that will work properly without tons of modifications to it will be your first problem. REW motors have different mounts and the cosmo motors that are TT are harder to find. Just do a TII swap and change the front cover, easiest thing to do. You dont need a TT setup on a first gen.

maybe he already has the engine... if not, i'd go with a T2 engine also. A bit cheaper to do it that way .

Either way is gonna take alot of fab work for the mounts, but it's definatley do-able...post pics of it as you progress. I'd like to see it.

if i understand correctly the fd mounts are the same as the fc. if this is true then you can just do the fc front suspension swap to the fb and you will have the correct mounts

the twin turbos will physically bolt onto the t2 block but they wont clear the intake manifold.

the fd has different ports, they moved the engine mounts to the rear housing, theres a bunch of other little things too

another question then, how different are the ports and could they be the same with extensive porting?

also, would the fd intake manifold bolt onto the tii motor without problems?

the fd primaries come in at a different angle, so the ports on the fd primary are about 1/4 higher than the t2 ones. similar sizing, just at a different angle

I'd stick with an S5 TII. Swap the front cover and use an SE front crossmember or the special Racing Beat front mount... To see and ask what others's have done goto: http://www.turbofb.com

Good Luck...
