I'm replacing the front and rear oil seals in my transmission, and I just looked at it today and noticed that there's is some play in the shaft that's in the bell housing. Does anybody know how much play is normal? I think I have a little less than 1/16 of an inch of play at the end.

a slight amount of play is normal. you will notice when the trans gets noisy as hell that it needs a rebuild......

1/16th is nothing.... i've had one with WAY more than that in it that i considered ok for the track car....

when it starts rattling.... you need to address the issue though.
