Why does everyone get off on the 03' cobras when the 03 S281 Saleen is faster?

 

according to saleen's site, the s281 runs a 14.1



that is nowhere near what the 03 cobra's run

 

whoops I mean the S281-E: 425hp.....

 

i think that you are reffering to the s281E, not the s281.

Well both cars are great stock. The difference is the S281-E is a 2 valve Modular engine while the 03 Cobra is a DOHC 4 valve Modular engine. The cost is also a big difference the S281-E is more expensive than the 03Cobra. The power potential and Mods are big difference also 03 will make more power with MODS similar to the S281-E. It's like having a SOHC VS DOHC civic with the same MODS the DOHC will out perform the SOHC. Lastly, SALEEN is a differnt company which only goal is to tune and modify Mustang while 03Cobra came out straight from the Ford assembly line.



One more thing you forgot about the ROUSH Mustangs which has three stages of performance. ROUSH V6( I have no idea why they made it), V8ROUSH StageI, Stage II & the Stage III almost equal to the S281-E level of performance.
