How about timing values? If there are too retarded would that cause creep?

I don't belive so. We tried a bunch of different settings on the dyno, and the boost never changed.

mazdadrifter 09-20-2003 07:40 PM

about how much do you think your setup weighs?

I haven't weighed it, but I would guess between 10 and 15 lbs. I think it is closer to 10.

Can you or would you make Intake Manifolds?

You can't beat that for 300-450. It takes time to make these. If I were to make custom manifolds I would charge at least 450 for a divided tubular manifold, maybe a bit cheeper for a simple one. I would say you are offering a good deal [/quote]

450 for a divied tublar equal length manifold?

Done! where do i pay? you make I BUY!

I am open to making anything that people will buy.

Post a pic / link to what you have in mind.

Okay, I am going to put another manifold togather. But I am going to split the "collector" area, and add 2 wastegate runners. It will be divided then.

mazdadrifter 09-25-2003 02:02 PM

So your saying there are really no advantages to useing stainless, except for a couple pounds??

I'm not trying to hound you, I might be a customer.

You aren't bothering me, don't worry about asking questions.

Using stainless is mainly for appearance. Honestly. Other then that, it expands and contracts alot more then mild steel. It isn't supposed to but it does.

Also ss manifolds that are made with thin wall tubing will crack. I don't care how good you are at welding. Thin material will crack. If you would like me to make a lighter weight manifold I can. But it will not last very long.

What would you rather have, a manifold that weighs a few pounds more but is probably lighter then the stock one? Or a light weight ss manifold that you will inevitably crack?

mazdadrifter 09-25-2003 08:12 PM

I'm all about reliability baby, If it won't last for 50k miles, I don't want it on my car.

I really like your originall setup, because of the where the wastegate plumbs in and the fact that it is equal runners, I just got a hybrid or I'd be sending you cash now. Once I get an extra couple dollars I might get one and put it back for a rainy day. (or a full to4b swap)

Right on!

I am thinking about putting a splitter plate in the "collector" area. So that it is a divided equal length manifold. If I do that I will have to run 2 wastegate runners. They will connect into one flange.

However if you don't want it to be split, that's fine too. I can make them however. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Also, I am thinking about giving a lifetime warrantee against cracking. If someone manages to crack one of these, I will repair it for free. Unless it is obviously abuse. Like jumping the car into a frozen lake or something.

Finally got ahold of the car. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png I unbolted the stock manifold and turbo last night, and bolted the 60-1, and my manifold up.

Here are some pics. I think that if I make any more of these I am going to make the wastegate exit the rear.

There is actually room to make a dump tube that will clear the rack and cross member.

I'm looking more for a to4e /b flange, is that any prob?

What's the difference? t4 to4 use the same flange right?

ur example is a t 60, or just a t04 60-1 trim?? I'm not to familiar with the turbo lingo

I'm just makin sure that your regulaur t04 is no problem

t4, to4... They are the same flange. The turbo in the pictures is a 60-1 (compressor) on a t4 or to4 turbine housing.

I can post a spec pic of the turbo flange if you like.

vosko 09-30-2003 12:41 AM

looks like wastegate is gonna hit lower rad hose ?

It's a bad picture, and I don't plan on putting the wastegate in the front of any more of these.

vosko 09-30-2003 11:08 AM

i was gonna say i didn't like that design but i didn't want to be an ahole https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

It's cool. I wouldn't have taken it that way had you said that.

I don't like it there either. Honestly, I don't know why I put it there.

vosko 09-30-2003 11:32 AM

i have seen a couple of different manifolds.... so far i like my greddy the best as far as design. judge ito made a manifold like yours except with the wastegate positioning and it worked great with a nice T04

matt_sb2000 09-30-2003 10:25 PM

Yeah the wastegate placement sucks. I chopped it off and turned it around today.

Also, I borrowed a tangental sp? turbine housing and tacked up another manifold.

The ar of the housing that I borrowed is a 1.32. There is no in between with the on center housing and the one I got today. It takes 2 different manifolds. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png

rotarychainsaw 09-30-2003 11:08 PM

Dumb question, but this will work on a FC right?

Not a dumb question. I don't think I ever said what chassis it was in.

The car in the pictures is an fc. It's an 87 turbo 2.

Dragon 09-30-2003 11:21 PM

won't fit on a RHD car.. the wastgate pipe will hit the steering, If you sweep the wastgate out towars the back it'll probably fit a RHD FC.

matt_sb2000 09-30-2003 11:54 PM

Interesting information. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/bigthumb.gif The wastegate has been moved to the back. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
