Well now that I finally got my wastegate in the mail I figured I should finish my exh manifold https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Here is the best that I can come up with so far but I'm not sure it's the best way to do it so thats why I'm asking you guys https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png How would you do it?

In the second pic you can see that I have the WG runners tilted a little bit to give it a little bit of a "Y" transiton. I would like to tilt it a little bit more but it would hit the turbine housing if I went any farther. Do you think the exhaust will have to make too many turns to enter the wastegate if I did it this way and cause boost control issues?? (keeping in mind that there will be one more 90 deg fitting to connect to the wastegate)

So basically what would you do in my situation?

thanks

-Cam

hmm.. after looking at it maybe I should use two 45's instead of 90's where it comes off the main runners? It would maybe help take a way some of the bends.

you can't put it on the bottom ?

setzep 03-29-2003 05:20 PM

Nope, idler arm and tie rod is in the way. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png I'd like to keep the WG located how it is in the pic's so the diaphragm is pointed downward. This way it's out of most of the heat vs it pointing up and being exposed to more heat.

I'm going to head out to the garage and try another configuration, I'll let you know how it turns out.

leave it open, dump it to the street!

Hmm, well its defenitly different. I'd just try to have maybe like two 45 degree angles like you mentioned. Or better yet, instead of using two pipes from each exhaust pipe on the header, tie it right below the flange so you only have to use one pipe and have it angled down below the manifold. Or two pipes like my manifold, which has them on the bottom side.

How do you mean? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

BTW, nice manifold. Did you make it? Very professional.

hey cam, put the turbo on, and pretend the dp is there, i think that will make placing the wg a lot easier

Placing the WG was the easy part it's just finding the best way to "tap" into the main runners to feed the WG that I'm contemplating.
