I just got my RX-7, its a 1990 GXL. Its a great car but of course I wish it could be a turbo. its my project car and i only bought it for 700 dollars. I was wondering if any of you knew how much it would cost to make it a turbo, and whether or not it was difficult. I would appreciate feedback.

It can be done.. Dunno how much it would be.. Lotsa people would just recommend swapping in a T2 drivetrain.. but that will be lotsa $$$$... there is a guy on this site who has one though that was NA....

I have swapped engines on my car to turbo. But lately i have seen turbocharged nas. The cheapest way to go is to get a used turbo from a TII with exhaust manifold. You need to make the extra coolant line and oil lines. Then have some way to enrich the mixture via bigger fuel pump, injectors and piggy back computer.

OH you have to make an extra manifold extension to make it work or it the turbo will not bolt in cause the lower intake manifold gets in the way.

Well im just looking for the cheapest way, it doesn't have to be the best way. Thanks for the replies guys. Also , do any of you know any performance staticstics as far as Skidpad or 0-60 or 1/4mile times on the 1990 NA?

Drifter

You can port match a turboII intake to your n/a motor. Then the stock turboII exhaust manifold and turbo will bolt up with no modifications. Getting the turboII injectors with the manifold would be nice. Upgrade your fuel pump. Go stand alone computer. Upgrade the clutch and if you stay under the 300hp level and your driving habits are good, your stock trans, axles will be ok. Price???
