How many turbo families are there that are commonly used on 7s?
T3? T4? (T04s) T series (Garrett/Turbonetics) T series (GReddy/Trust) 60 series(Garrett/Turbonetics) Where does the GT35/40 fall in? Is the HKS GT28/35 ball bearing like other Garrett GT turbos? Are the T66 and 60-1/2 related? Thank You! I would REALLY appreciate it! |
Yes, I read the sticky, I'm still confused, though
|
dont forget the IHI RX6 and the AX75 distributed by apexi
|
also i would imagine that a gt 35/40 is a t3/t4 hybrid turbo. hence the reason that it makes good power and has quick spool up time. and as far as how many turbos can be used on a rx7.... well you can make any turbo work really...its just how well does it work. you need to think about what you will be using the car for. if i remember correctly you dont have a car yet. if you do i am sorry. but i believe a stock rx7 is extremely quick car. if you make it nonsequential it is even faster. i think you need to think about everything that you need to convert a stock rx7 to a single turbo one. also dont forget about dyno time. i have spent 17k thus far and it looks like i have nothing to show for it. i also do all the work myself. i feel like i am far from done. i just want to make it clear that these cars need alot of tlc. and i want to stress to you to make your decisions on what turbo kit to get not because it is the latest and greatest turbo outthere but because it fits your needs.

oh yeah a full t3 is going to be to small. you need t3/t4

Can't wait to get one (no, I won't be some HS kid roaming around and showing off, I'm the subtle type)
I think you misinterpreted my question. I meant to ask what turbos fall under what category/class. More specifically, is the T04 in the T4 class and are the T66 and 60-1 turbos related? (can't find the 60-1, but I can find a T60) Thanks for your help! |
Size/power wise it goes a little something like this:
T3=honda turbo=way too small 60-1, T04b,e,s, Apexi rx6, Greddy td05, td06~400rwhp GT 35/40 ~450rwhp T62-1, T04r, T04x ~525rwhp T66, Greddy T78 ~600rwhp T70,HKS T51r KAI ~675rwhp T72, Greddy T88, HKS T51r SPL ~750rwhp T76 ~******* crazy power The GT35/40 is a T3/T4 hybrid. The GT series is the ball bearing versions of the T3 and T4 frame turbos. T3 and T4 refers to the frame size. Everything listed above is a T4 framed turbo. |
So all the above turbos fit the same manifold? (T4 frame) Is the GT35/40, T3 turbine wheel or housing? Again, Thanks!

You could also Upgrade the Stock twins. That is what I plan on doing when I get the dough https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png |
For the most part, yes they will all fit on the same manifold. Except the HKS T51's they have a special manifold I think.
