I dont think i'm going to be able to fit any air filters bigger then a few inches long, so I might just run screens. The smaller k&n's that will fit might just become a restriction. But, i am unavaliable to find any quality screens. I know i could make something up, but i'd rather not risk it if i can buy something that was designed to go on a turbo and not a screen door.

look into HKS MetalFlow's they have ones with 100mm mounting point. I found them on overboost.com. i think they have ones that are like 100mmx80mm (about 4"x3"), they may have shorter/stubbier ones as well, i dont remember off hand.

yea i know what you were looking for, i was suggesting the metalflow because you could get it somewhat compact.



i wouldnt go using window screen, or any screen to be honest with you.



Unless you dont care about longevity of turbos/engine. I know youre putting a lot into the twin turbo setup i figure you dont want to be sandblasting the internals of your turbo and motor by using just regular screens. A couple guys on here have talked about the effects of using just screens and how it compares to an actual filter.



i suggested the metalflow not only because i know it can be made "stubby" but also because according to independent tests its flow rate is rather high, plus its a pretty trick looking filter as well.



But if you do stay with the screen idea thats your choice, ill probably run like that but only on the track, not looking to cost myself a motor/t78 if i inhale a little grit.

As far as screen goes, you are looking for the stainless or rubber coated screen that is used in tea strainers and collanders. It is very rigid and will hold any shape you make it.

Screens like that are a very bad idea.



It might look like a good idea, but due to it's close proximity of the screen to the inlet, you're magnefying the "obstruction ratio".

Screens can be described through an obstruction ratio - % of screen material versus the open spaces.

Very large hold screens (like 1/2" square holes can be as low at 20%).

Small screens in that pic can be a restrictive as 50% or more!



This is why pleated filters are superior.

Although the filter media looks dense, if you stretch out the entire area of the filter, you can wrap it around your head!

(Assuming cone or canister type filter).



Please, try and use a proper filter - use a tight radius bent pipe if you have to!
