Specs on a t-04 60-1

I got this guy who builds turbos here in OKC. Says he'll build me a turbo for my rex if I can get him some good specs. I don't want a t-3/4 hybrid so I guess rebuilding my turbo is out of the question. However, what numbers do I need to give this guy for him to build me a t-4 60-1 with maybe O/P trim? What the hell is a 60-1 hi-fi?



I need streetability, and reliability is good too. No ball bearing stuff here However, I want to be able to use this on my s5 NA once its rebuilt and streetported. Looking for 375-425 Hp eventually and only want to have to get one turbo. Already have a bigass IC and haltech will come but....



compressor size? housing? A/R? turbine side? trim? undivided or divided?



Let's clear the air for the forced induction dummies such as myself.

The 60-1 Hi-fi is a 60-1 with smaller inlets and outlets. It flows a little less air than the 60-1, but it's alot cheaper. An exhaust housing with an A/R of .81 would spool up pretty quickly. .96 would give more top end without much more lag. A divided exhaust housing on a divided manifold should help with lag. If you get an undivided manifold then just get an undivided housing.

HAHA!! thats sweet!! What kind of turbo is that? Okay, I am starting to get the jist of this stuff now. I've never heard it explained that way before.



So the t-04 describes the housing, the 60-1 describes the inlet/outlet ratio?. The A/R describes the exhast housing, the greater the A/R the more air flow. The divided housing flows air faster than an undivided because of Bernoulli's principle, Yet the undivided flows more air resulting in high end power? The trim describes the compressor wheel? What describes the turbine wheel?



Am I getting there?

No, the TO4 is just the type of turbo. The 60-1 describes the compressor housing and wheel. A 60-1 uses a TO4 exhaust wheel and housing. Yes, the higher the A/R the more air flow, but the greater the lag. Yeah, I think the undivided is supposed to flow more in the end. The trim describes the exhaust side. I have one but not yet installed a to4 60-1 turbo. .70 a/r compressor with the huge inlets. The turbine housing is undivided .96 a/r and P-trim wheel for best flow, or less back pressure. Hope that helps.

My friend has that same setup on a 88 TII with ported motor, Haltech E6A, Spearco intercooler, 2 Supra Turbo fuel pumps (no probs with fuel), no AC, no Power steering. Over 400 RWHP at 18psi. Simply an awesome streetable setup with the 60-1. Go for it!!
