I'm a noob and don't havea 7 yet but will soon

just a few questions

what's the advantages/disadvantage of a single turbo

and which model/yr was the best 7 in north america?

Single turbo - less stress of having to deal with the damn seq. twins and all those damn vacuum hoses. then of there's more power too. I'm going single to cut down on a big chunk of heat under the hood and less vacuum hoses. (a little more hp too)

disadvantage - upfront money and wrench time. Then again, you'll save in the long run if you go ahead and get one.

As far as the best 7, a little more info would be nice. Are you wanting a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gen? As far as 3rd gens, I'd get a 94 or 95 before a 93 if you can afford it. It really depends what options you want from there. If you don't want a sun roof, get an R1/R2. I got the sun roof so I got a PEP model (pretty close to a touring) It's all basically personnal preference. Hope this helped...

Happy hunting!

the advantage of a single turbo is simplicity, the twin setup is complex.

the best rx7 is the 84-85 gsl-se

Well, since you are asking the advantages of a single turbo, I'm going to guess you are talking about advantages OVER a twin setup... Which makes me think you are inquiring about a third gen?

If I'm right: Get the car first. There really is no advantage to a single setup over a twin setup; if the twin setup is properly maintained. You do have a lot of places to look for problems when they occur, but if you were to put together a nice CLEAN stock sequential system from the ground up, you should be happy for a long time. With a single conversion, you remove lots of "stuff" making diagnosis of problems a bit easier, and neat to look at, but as far as advantages, I don't think there are really that many.

If I'm worng: FC's came with a single turbo. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

When I had the stock twins on, it always seemed like I had to fiddle with the car every damn day. Once I went single, my wrench time plummeted...and my HP skyrocketed... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif
