It depends what TO4E you get. There are MANY different versions.

I don't know about kits, but a good Q-trim T04E with a good A/R and manifold should do the job.

do you know how he is able to run @ 18 psi w/o detonation? that's a whole lotta boost!
I run 18psi on pump gas with zero detonation. I'm sure water injection would help the matter also. As long as you keep your coolant to a reasonable level and intake temps down you will be safe. Unless you modify the t04e it isn't going to give you the same kind of power. You'd be better off going with the t04s.

Also take into account that nearly all these single turbos only begin to start making 'big' power at 15psi. Its after 15psi that they become more efficient. However you hit a point where it becomes dangerous unless you have a good setup to run near or at 20psi on pump gas. There are more and more guys realizing that higher boost can be achieved without blowing engine after engine.

do you know of anybody can tune well enough (on the east coast)to allow me to run higher boost levels w/o the risk of blowing up yet another engine?

What fuel management system are you using? Myself and Brian at RotorSports Racing here in North Carolina tuned my car on the dyno with the haltech. I will suggest you run air/fuel of 11:5:1 up to 15psi, then 11:1 past 15psi. Running heat range 9 plugs will help out, as well as an ignition amp. My hks twin power made a world of difference on top end rpm breakup. You may also want to retard you timing as low as 12-13 degrees by the time you reach 20psi. Make sure your intake temps are not much higher than 100 degrees, and your coolant not much higher than 200 degrees. This is where water injection really helps fight detonation and heat problems. I would feel comforatable running 20psi if I had water injection.

Oh, I ran across this, you might find it interesting. RiceRacing's setup and tuning parameters. You'll notice he's actually running pretty lean, 98ron fuel in Australia is actually more like our 93 here in the states btw.

RICE 13B T2 engine 9:0.1 compression (race clearanced) constant oil injection cooling

RICE street ported (race exhaust port-no sleeves) ported runners, primary & secondary same opening and closing timing

RICE ported throttle body and intake manifold

RICE FMIC

RICE T04

Autronic SMC engine managment

Crane CDI's (2x Hi6 on leading plugs)

RICE equal length tunned exhaust manifold (divided) HKS 45mm WG

3" exhaust, single large turbo muffler

RICE pneumatic water injection

Main Tunning Parameters

AFR 12:1 @ wot

timing 12deg BTDC @ wot

water injection 275ml/min @ 20psi boost

B11EGV plugs

98ron octane pump fuel

540bhp@7500rpm@20psi boost (engine power DIN std corrected) full street trim !
