Shurflow Va Aquamist
#1
One of my Aquamist pumps died and I need to replace it , I use two because I put together a fairly high flow system, anyway , I recently came across the Shurflow pumps (looking at the "do it yourself" kits) and it seems that one of those can outperform my two Aquamist pumps !! . Anyone using these pumps ? , how good are they ? , do they actually work as good as they say ? , and the price is QUITE a lot cheaper than the Aqua. !! , by the way anyone know if the pump in the pic is actually a Shurflo pump , I already bought it for $40.00 , its rated at 2 gpm and 220psi !! ?

I am currently using a shurflow pump with two 3.5 gph misters. The only thing I don't like about the shurflow pump is, it will not hold a constant pressure. There working range is from 30-45psi. At 45psi the pump turns off and will not turn on until the pressure drops to 30 psi. So the misters are operating at different water pressure. I bench tested my set up and you can visually see more water being sprayed at different times of pump operation. Does the Aquamist pump hold a constant working pressure?

No the Aquamists' pressure also falls as water is being injected , but the pump starts sooner , maybe you need to adjust or even change the switch for one with a higher setting and maybe add an accumulator to the system to give you a reserve so that the system doesnt cycle as much . Guys with the high (100psi) pressure/ flow (1.6-1.8 gpm) pump say that the pump rarely starts and when it does its only for about 3-5 seconds at a time.

Ordered a few more misters and another valve to add a intercooler sprayer to the system. This should make the pump cycle faster and make the water pressure a little more stable. http://www.turbomirage.com/water3.html This is what I am running. And adding a intercooler sprayer.
